| Realtime Captioning
Used mostly for live events, realtime captioning makes
live television accessible to Deaf and hard-of-hearing
people. CWD utilizes the latest technologies and
techniques to bring live broadcasts to all people in need of
captions. While realtime captioning is mostly used
with television broadcasts, it is also an effective tool
when used during meetings, conferences, and in classroom
settings. |
| Closed Captioning
Like subtitles, closed captions display spoken
dialogue in the form of printed words on a screen.
Captions express sound effects, music, laughter and
identify speakers. Closed captions can only be
seen with a caption decoder or a "caption ready
television set. |
| Open Capitoning
Open captions are similar to closed captions.
However, a "caption ready" television or
decoder is not needed to receive the captions.
Open captions are part of the actual television
programming: they are similar to subtitles in
a movie. These captions cannot be turned off. |
| Webcast Captioning
Many internet sites are utilizing webcasts to
broadcast meetings, conferences and other important
information to millions of people worldwide.
CWD can caption these broadcasts so they are
available for all streamlined videos and accessible
to all audiences. |
